| Man dead after police standoff; another woman found dead in home Virginia State Police identify him as 54-year-old Richard R. Towler of Danville. Police said he lived at the house where the shooting happened. When police entered the home, they found a deceased female inside, police said. State police identify her as 38-year-old Crystal Lynn Averett of Danville.

| Fundraiser held for families of fallen troopers A huge crowd turnout in Richmond on Saturday to support the families of two Virginia State Police officers killed in the line of duty. Lieutenant Jay Cullen and Trooper Pilot Burke Bates were killed when their helicopter crashed outside of Charlottesville during the Unite the Right rally in August.
